What NDG does to a car

Most of NDG is brick duplexes and triplexes on long, straight streets, with a laneway out back. Few of them have a driveway, so the car lives outside all year, out front on the street or in the laneway behind the house. Winter is the hard part.
Winter on the street
A car parked on the street gets slush thrown at it every time a plow goes by, and you climb over a snowbank to get in. If you take Décarie or the 20 to work, there’s a white crust of highway salt on the lower doors by February.
Inside it’s slush on the mats and salt lines on the carpet. And if someone in the house plays hockey, there’s a bag drying in the trunk all winter. A Mobile Prestige Interior sorts that out without you moving the car.
Spring and summer: still outside
When the snow melts, the salt stays behind in the door jambs and along the sills. Then the car spends the summer on the street or in the laneway, picking up dust and bird droppings, plus the odd drop of sap from the trees out front.
Caught early, most of that comes off with a Mobile Prestige Exterior. Left through a hot summer, droppings can etch into the clear coat, and then it’s paint correction at the shop. If your car lives outside all year, a ceramic coating makes the next round a lot easier to wipe off.
The NDG we know
Monkland Village is the easy one to love. It’s a few blocks of cafés and restaurants on Monkland Avenue, and on a nice Saturday it feels like half the neighbourhood is out there. Sherbrooke West is the long everyday street that runs right across Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, where most of the errands get done.
NDG Park, which most people still call Girouard Park, has outdoor rinks and ski trails in winter. In summer the kids take over the fountains, and Le Rendez-Vous NDG brings music and food to the pavilion. Out at the west end, Concordia’s Loyola campus sits on Sherbrooke with its old stone buildings.
When the van’s out this way, lunch tends to be a quarter chicken with the dipping sauce at Chalet Bar-B-Q on Sherbrooke West.

NDG questions
Before you book
I don’t have a driveway, just a spot on the street. Can you work on the car there?
Yes. We do it where you normally park. The van brings its own water and power, so all we need is a spot for the car.
The plows cover my car in slush all winter. Is it worth washing before spring?
Yes. That slush is full of salt, and you don’t want it sitting on the lower doors until April. A Signature hand wash at the shop takes about 50 minutes, and the shop is about 10 minutes up Décarie.
Our car sat in the laneway behind the triplex all winter. Can you do it back there?
Yes, the laneway works. A Mobile Prestige Exterior gets a winter of salt and grime off right where the car sits. If the salt has marked the paint, that part needs paint correction in the bay at the shop.
Hockey season wrecked the back seat. What should I book?
Book a Mobile Prestige Interior. If the outside needs it too, the Mobile ABSOLUX does both. You can cancel for free up to 24 hours before if the week gets away from you.
