This is our own neighbourhood. The shop is at 5300 Van Horne, on the Hampstead side of Côte-des-Neiges, and it handles everything we offer, from a quick hand wash to paint correction and ceramic coating. From most streets around here that’s a few minutes in the car, and some of you can walk it.
When the car can’t make the trip, the van brings the detail to your door. It’s one flat price anywhere in Greater Montreal, so there’s no travel fee. Booking online takes about a minute, and we confirm by text.

Saint Joseph’s Oratory, Côte-des-Neiges
From the Oratory on Queen Mary up to the Plaza near Jean-Talon, most of Côte-des-Neiges is a short drive from the shop. That makes it easy to fit the car in around the rest of your week, like a wash on Saturday morning or a detail on your day off. An Express hand wash takes about 20 minutes. A Signature takes about 50.

Up the mountain and down to the Plaza
Saint Joseph’s Oratory is the one everybody knows, even people who’ve never been inside. The basilica sits high on the north slope of Mount Royal, and a long run of stairs climbs to it from Queen Mary Road. The middle of those stairs is kept for pilgrims who go up on their knees. Getting in costs nothing, and the view from the top is the best on this side of the mountain.
Behind the Oratory, the mountain belongs to the cemeteries. Notre-Dame-des-Neiges has its main gate on Chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges, with Mount Royal Cemetery right beside it, and they make for a long, quiet walk. Some of the paths in Notre-Dame-des-Neiges climb high enough that you can look back across at the Oratory’s dome.
The Université de Montréal is built into the same slope, and you can spot the tower on its main pavilion from all over the city. Most students take the long escalator ramp up to it rather than the stairs. Below the campus, Jean-Brillant and Decelles are student streets, lined with apartments facing the university, with HEC on the corner. In the warm months there’s an outdoor market on Jean-Brillant.
Chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges is the main street for eating and errands, and it runs north past Plaza Côte-des-Neiges, the older mall with the huge parking lot. Martin Luther King Park is right by the Plaza. Plenty of people still call it Kent Park, and it has a soccer field lit for evening games and ski trails once there’s snow. The Décarie runs along the west side, which is how most of the neighbourhood gets onto the highway.
It’s a hospital neighbourhood too. The Jewish General, St. Mary’s and Sainte-Justine are all here, and a lot of the people who live nearby work shifts at one of them. When we’re between cars, lunch is usually a bowl of pho at Pho Lien, on the corner of Côte-Sainte-Catherine and Côte-des-Neiges.
What winter on these streets does to the paint
Most people here live in apartments and park on the street, so the car spends the winter outside. The plows push slush up against it, the salt dries into a white film along the lower doors, and every morning the snow brush drags whatever grit is on the paint across it. A lot of the fine scratches you see in the sun start that way.
The hills add their own wear. Coming down from the mountain or the streets around the campus, you’re on the brakes a lot, and the wheels go grey with brake dust faster than they would on flat ground. If you work at one of the hospitals, the car can sit in an outdoor lot for a whole shift in whatever the weather is doing.
A hand wash every week or two through the winter keeps the salt and grit from sitting on the car. The swirl marks are a paint correction job, and a ceramic coating afterward makes the next winter’s grime rinse off a lot more easily. Both are done at the shop.
When the car can’t come to us
Sometimes the car isn’t going anywhere, like after a night shift, or when you’ve finally found a good spot on your street and you’re not giving it up. Then the van comes to you. It carries its own water and power, so all we need is a spot for the car. Côte-des-Neiges questions
Before you book
My street near the university is steep, and all winter the car’s covered in salt and grit. Is it bad to brush it off myself?
Brushing snow off is fine. Scrubbing dried salt and grit off with the brush or a dry cloth is what leaves fine scratches in the paint, so rinse it instead or bring it in for a hand wash. If the scratches are already there and show up in the sun, that’s paint correction, and we do it at the shop.
I take Côte-des-Neiges over the mountain to work, and my wheels go black within a week. What helps?
That’s brake dust from all the downhill stretches. It’s mostly metal, and once it bakes on it gets hard to shift. Regular hand washes keep it from building up. If it’s already caked into the wheels, book a Prestige Exterior at the shop, or a Mobile Prestige Exterior at your door.
I’m buying a used car from a student who’s leaving at the end of the term. What should I book first?
