Driveways, family cars and the 40
Centennial Park, Dollard-des-Ormeaux
DDO is house after house with its own driveway, a lot of them wide enough for two cars. That’s about the easiest place there is for us to work. The car sits in the driveway, the van pulls up beside it, and since the van carries its own water and power, we don’t need your hose or an outlet.
The cars in those driveways are usually doing family duty. There’s the minivan with two car seats and a trail of crackers in the second row, and the SUV that smells like a hockey bag after a week of evenings at the arena. Interiors like that are what a mobile detail is for.
Then there’s the commute. A lot of mornings here start on the 40, and from December to March the 40 is a salt road. The spray cakes onto the lower doors, the wheels and the back hatch, and it comes inside on everyone’s boots and dries white on the mats. Getting it off every few weeks keeps it from sitting on the paint and in the carpet until spring.
Centennial Park, and Fairview down the road
Centennial Park is where DDO goes to get outside. The paths wind through the woods and around the lake, which has a few small islands in the middle and plenty of birds along the shore. It’s an easy walk with a stroller or a dog, and there are benches when you want to sit and look at the water.
The park stays in use all winter. People ski the trails through the woods and skate on the outdoor rink, and the kids take over the sledding hill. All that snow comes home packed into boots and snow pants, and most of it melts into the floor mats and the carpet underneath.
In summer, the Fête nationale and Canada Day fireworks go up at the Civic Centre, right by the park, and people show up with lawn chairs.
For shopping, there’s Fairview, down Saint-Jean where it meets the 40. It’s technically in Pointe-Claire, but for most of DDO it’s the closest big mall, and on a Saturday in December its parking lot is one long slush puddle.
What the van does, and what needs the shop
In your driveway we can do an exterior detail, an interior detail, or both together as a Mobile ABSOLUX. Hand washes, paint correction and ceramic coating need our bay, so those only happen at the shop at 5300 Van Horne in Côte-des-Neiges. Before you book
Should I take the car out of the garage before you get here?
If you can, yes. Leave it in the driveway with a little room on each side so we can open all the doors. The van pulls up next to it and we get started.
Two car seats and a week of crackers in the second row. Which one do I book?
The Mobile Prestige Interior. Crumbs end up in the seat creases and under the car seats, and the inside is what that detail is for. If the outside could use it too, the Mobile ABSOLUX does both in the same visit.
How much more is it for a minivan or a big SUV?
A bit more, because there’s more car to do. The mobile detailing page lists each size, so you’ll see yours before you book.
The kids tracked half the sledding hill into the minivan. Is that an interior job?
It is, and it’s what the Mobile Prestige Interior is for. Wet boots and snow pants leave salt lines in the carpet and a damp smell under the mats. It comes out a lot easier if you don’t leave it until April.
